I recently purchased a Marlique Deluxe guitar from Erik Guitars and although there were some issues regarding the action when it arrived, these were quickly resolved and it now plays very nicely. I chose this guitar as I was looking for something a little different and wanted to avoid all those cloned guitar brands. You could say that the style of my Marlique draws on several existing designs but to be honest it must be nigh on impossible to come up with a totally unique design after all these years! I love the style of the guitar and the coil tapping feature makes it suitable for a wide range of playing styles (I have a somewhat ecclectic taste in music!).

One thing I particularly like is the harmonics that the body seems to generate, which gives extra warmth to the sound and which is something generally only found in high quality (and thus normally very expensive) guitars. It looks beautiful and the quality of the fittings is also excellent, so it comes across as a quality instrument.

I shan't be using the tremolo function too much but the plus side of buying this version of the guitar is that you get a wonderfully adjustable bridge! The pickups have plenty of bite without being too vicious and sound particularly good when plugged into a vintage valve amp (I have a 1980 Burman Pro 2000), when it can sound like a classic Gibson or similar.

About the only thing I think could perhaps be better is the hard case that it comes with, as this does look and feel cheap and doesn't do the guitar itself justice.

All in all then, I can only recommend this guitar to anyone thinking of buying one and I would suggest that once the rest of the world catches on to how good they are, the prices will rise - you have been warned!

Happy strumming.
